CMDG’s Homage to Halloween
It’s a little dreary in our town of Tuscumbia, AL because of the rain today, but we’re not going to let that stop our spooky fun! We decided to move things inside and dress some of our kitchen tools in ghoulish attire:

Industrial Designers
Do you ever think about the designer that created the tool to peel the carrots in a photo like this? Pictures like these appear with recipes, in magazines and on countless other sites, yet we take them for granted. The tools we use to make a beautiful picture go un-thanked and don’t even register as a thought in our brains. Some people, including Carter, design these tools. Next time you pull out your trusty grater or vegetable peeler, think about the person behind the product. What you’re holding started out as a sketch by someone who wanted to make the best possible product for you.

Blue Suede Shoes
I think we all know of Carter’s obsession with blue suede shoes. They even pop up in Google images when you search his name! Want your own pair so you can cleverly hum the song made popular by Mr. Elvis Presley himself while strutting down the street? They make “smoking slippers” in all shapes and sizes, but finding them in blue suede is a little difficult. I searched the web over and this is what I found:
For Men:
Carter’s shoes are made by Del Toro. You can get them in different colors, shapes or with a tassel if you so choose. Here are the originals.
For Women:
They make a women’s version of Carter’s shoe that might catch your eye, but if you’re looking for a little more stud in your life, Me Too Shoes has an adorable studded number in either black or ink blue. If you’d rather glam it up this fall, Steve Madden makes an adorable platinum pair with a cute tassel added on.
No matter how you look at it, these “smoking slippers” are definitely on trend this fall. Carter has already been ahead of the game with his. Jump on the bandwagon and join the Carter McGuyer “blue suede shoe” style!

New Beginning
Good things are coming your way in the form of social media here at Carter McGuyer Design Group, so get excited! All of the social media sites that are currently being used (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pintrest and this blog) are about to send out a lot more content. I am so excited to begin and have many things lined up in the weeks ahead for you to enjoy.
Who will be posting these little gems? Well, my name is Scarlett and I’ve recently been added to the CMDG team just to take care of you! Carter and Brandi saw a need to have more of a presence online, so here I sit, ready to update you on all things CMDG.

Fortunate One
I recently came across a drawing of a building I did when I was 16 years old. It was a full set of architectural drawings for a commercial building. Notice the name I sketched in on the outside entrance of the building…”Carter Industries”. Although I changed my mind a couple of years later and decided Industrial Design would be a better fit, it was great to see that the 16 year old me had the drive and desire to someday own his own company. I consider myself fortunate to know early on that I wanted to design (something) professionally. We thought this would be great to share – just to show what we mean when we say we live design…and I have for a very long time.
